The Inverurie Whisky Shop was established by Michael Stuart and opened its doors in 2015, stocking a wide selection of whisky, gins and spirits. Michael and his family have worked in the world of spirits, hospitality and retail for a number of years and during that time Michael has continued to develop his intimate knowledge of both flavours and spirits production along with supporting a variety of Scottish Gin brands and producers.
Inspired by the Foghouse on famous local landmark Bennachie, Michael launched Foghouse Spirits in September 2021. Fog Houses can be found on a number of Scottish estates and gardens and were built as places to escape to, unwind and relax; often with serene views of the local area or overlooking unique natural features like waterfalls, rivers or panoramic views.
Foghouse Gin is the first release from Foghouse Spirits. The gin has been created by Michael Stuart, Foghouse Spirits founder, and the team at Lost Loch Spirits Distillery in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire. Foghouse Gin is described as having a Mediterranean flavour profile and is produced in batches of 300 bottles. On the nose, Mediterranean herbs and fresh juniper. On the palate, sweet nuts which develop into a distinct green herbaceous note. The finish is fragrant and long with some warming spice and dry herbal earthiness, juniper and savoury notes.
