Archie McDiarmid, a native of Glasgow, moved to St Andrews in the late 1990s and spent much of his free time working as a bartender at the university. During this time, he learned more about the wide range of beers, spirits, wines, cocktails, and the on-trade sector. His experience helped him discover, learn and refine his palate and knowledge of the drinks industry. With over 20 years of experience in the drinks industry, Archie is the manager of Luvians Bottleshop, voted Scotland’s Best Independent Wine & Spirits Merchant by Harpers for three consecutive years. Luvians Bottleshop is also consistently ranked among the UK’s top 10 wine and spirits retailers. Archie has written for various drinks publications and has had the privilege of serving as a wine and spirits judge at competitions, including Scottish Field and Wines of Germany.
