Described as “pretty grown-up and undoubtedly juniper-y” it also boasts a slightly sweeter and fruitier taste with the addition of strawberries and raspberries post-distillation. The base gin is lighter in style than Lundin's signature Gorse Gin and substitutes some of the traditional spices for more floral botanicals. There are no fruit essences or flavourings, just 100% natural ingredients to create a full-strength and beautifully natural pink gin.
Established in 2015, the couple behind Lundin Distilling chose to use local Gorse flower as their hero botanical, which grows in abundance around Fife in spring and early summer. The gin delivers that incredible scent on the palate, balanced with another 17 botanicals, including two varieties of juniper from Macedonia and Italy.
Flavoured Gins vary in flavour and colour. Often the gin will be infused with a flavour post-distillation through maceration or even the addition and blending of individual distillates or essences. Sometimes the gin will be created in one distillation. These styles of gin often have a key flavour which tends to lead the flavour profile, such as fresh berry fruit, citrus or any number of possible key botanicals and flavours. Although this gin style should still include juniper, it is often not the leading botanical.
Lundin Distilling was set-up with one goal – to distil and produce original, high quality, handcrafted spirits in Fife. Based in an industrial unit in Kirkcaldy, the team thought long and hard about their recipe and setup, eventually importing a unique still from the moonshining heartland of Alabama to make their 18-strong botanical gin.
