Kinrara Wild Juniper Gin is based on the signature Highland Dry Gin but uses native wild Scottish juniper carefully foraged from the Kinrara Estate. The juniper-led dry gin also features locally foraged rose hips and rowan berries along with classic gin botanicals including coriander and angelica root. The result is a juniper-led gin with strong piney notes and fresh, bright citrus.

Nose:

Piney juniper and fresh morning dew. Sweet hints of vanilla and cream soda giving way to citrus, lemon verbena and bright tangerine

Taste:

Wet pine needles, icy dewdrops and dark, ancient woodlands. Candied orange and vanilla emerge ahead of freshly cracked pink peppercorns

Finish:

Bright and clean. Dry spices and tobacco warmly coat the palette. Lingering whispers of angelica root.

About

Kinrara’s Highland Distillery is nestled in 12,000 acres of Cairngorm National Park, just outside Aviemore. The centuries old estate was founded by Lady Jane Gordon, beautiful socialite and co-creator of the famous Gordon Highlanders. It was in her drawing room that Rabbie Burns first read his poetry to Edinburgh society. One of Scotland’s newest micro-distilleries, Kinrara Distillery make unique Highland Dry Gin infused with local flora and berries. The team at Kinrara Distillery prides itself on creating a handcrafted small batch spirit using their direct-fired stills that were handmade for the distillery in Portugal. From the distillation right down to the bottling, everything is lovingly done by hand, by their passionate Highland team.

London Dry Gin

London Dry Gin is both a flavour profile and a production method. London Dry Gins tend to follow the traditional, classic flavour of piney juniper, citrus and spice. Alongside juniper, botanicals in London Dry Gin often include orris root, angelica root, cassia bark, citrus peel and coriander, among the core botanicals. The result is a dry gin that features piney juniper along with bursts of citrus and warming spice and earthy, dry notes from use of botanicals such as cassia bark and coriander. Nothing synthetic can be added like flavourings or colours and nothing can be added post distillation apart from water and a tiny amount of sugar meaning all flavours come from distillation.

Production

Set in the vast and rugged setting of the wild Scottish Cairngorms National Park, a whitewashed converted steading is home to the Kinrara Distillery. Featuring traditional copper pot stills, bottling and packing facilitates, all production takes place on-site at the distillery. With a tasting room available for tasting events adorned with some of the artwork featured on the artists edition gins, the distillery is a true highland home. The distillery is part of the Kinrara Estate, which means the team have access to a variety of local botanicals that grow wild on the estate plus an abundance of fresh water direct from the estate.
