A world first upon its initial release, this native Galloway Gin was the first 100% Scottish Gin made from scratch. This unique gin uses a base spirit created by the team at Crafty Distillery using local grain and features only botanicals foraged from the local Galloway area. The 2020 edition of Galloway Gin is back and limited to only 1000 bottles in a new red foiled label and frosted bottle. It is distilled with hand foraged juniper, as well as elderberries, crab apples and chanterelles from the Galloway forests and pepper dulse seaweed from the coast.
The Crafty Distillery is a modern grain to glass distillery; producing gallons of tasty stuff, delivering panoramic views over the Galloway Hills and 'Keeping Everyone in Good Spirits'. A small committed team with the long-held mantra that if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly. Using new technology, their own grain spirit and locally sourced ingredients, they create tasty, wallet-pleasing spirits for everyone who likes a tipple. Combining a commercial and working distillery, visitors can tour the production facilities to learn more about the Crafty Distillery’s unique approach to distillation, sample their tasty Scottish spirits and admire the scenery all from the comfort of the new, modern purpose built distillery.
London Dry Gin
London Dry Gin is both a flavour profile and a production method. London Dry Gins tend to follow the traditional, classic flavour of piney juniper, citrus and spice. Alongside juniper, botanicals in London Dry Gin often include orris root, angelica root, cassia bark, citrus peel and coriander, among the core botanicals. The result is a dry gin that features piney juniper along with bursts of citrus and warming spice and earthy, dry notes from use of botanicals such as cassia bark and coriander. Nothing synthetic can be added like flavourings or colours and nothing can be added post distillation apart from water and a tiny amount of sugar meaning all flavours come from distillation.
Perched on a hillside just outside the market town of Newton Stewart and with enviable views over the Galloway Hills, you’ll find the modern, purpose-built structure and welcoming environment that is Crafty Distillery. Crafty Distillery is one of only a select hand full of gin makers in Scotland who use a grain to glass approach in their distilling, making their own base spirit which they create from scratch at their distillery.
