Finally No. 1 in the Ellis Gin range has arrived. Following number 2, 3, 4 and 5 releases over the last few years, this No. 1 will be the brand’s flagship gin, intended to be the most traditional gin in the range. It’s called No. 1 Zesty Gin so as you would expect, it’s a traditional London Dry Gin packed with juniper, citrus and spice flavours, including Mandarin, Orange Flower and Ginseng.

Ellis Gin was initially created in late 2016 by founder Carol Jackson as the base for the highly successful Gin&Mix cocktails. The gin evolved over a period of 18 months and Ellis Gin officially launched in September 2018 with two naturally flavoured, coloured gins, which enchantingly change colour when mixer is added. Since then, the brand has gone on to create and release a range of fun, coloured and flavoured gins, all with juniper at their heart.
Flavoured Gins vary in flavour and colour. Often the gin will be infused with a flavour post-distillation through maceration or even the addition and blending of individual distillates or essences. Sometimes the gin will be created in one distillation. These styles of gin often have a key flavour which tends to lead the flavour profile, such as fresh berry fruit, citrus or any number of possible key botanicals and flavours. Although this gin style should still include juniper, it is often not the leading botanical.
Ellis Gin is distilled by production partner Illicit Spirits in a hidden railway arch in Glasgow, produced in small batches but big in flavour in a 100 litre copper still. Ellis is a real family affair, named affectionately after Carol’s daughter, with each bottle hand bottled, hand labelled, hand sealed and individually numbered by the family team.
