Mackintosh Gin is a true family brand, consisting of Jim and Deborah Mackintosh and their three daughters. The County of Angus where they’re based, has a rich history of Viking invasions, Romans, Picts and Celts. It is an area abundant with ancient standing stones and natural beauty and affectionately known as ‘The birthplace of Scotland’. True to their Angus roots, the inspiration for the branding was taken from ‘Lover’s Knot’, a symbol which is carved into a 9th century Pictish stone in Meigle, not far from the couple’s home. A similar version of the knot can be found on the Droston Pictish Stone in St Vigeans near Arbroath, 2 miles from where Mackintosh Gin is distilled.
