Taking its namesake from the iconic Scottish mountain, Ben Lomond, Ben Lomond Gin is a traditional London Dry style gin. Distilled using a mix of 11 botanicals including angelica root, rose petals, liquorice, and handpicked blackcurrants plus locally foraged rowan berries. This gin is vibrant and crisp and offers a smooth, fresh flavour, which finishes with a delicate berry sweetness.
Loch Lomond Group is an independent distiller and blender of some of the finest and rarest whiskies in the world, with a number of whisky distilleries under the ownership and stewardship of the group as well as a number of other spirit brands. The group currently operates the Glen Scotia distillery in the Argyllshire port of Campbeltown, Loch Lomond distillery at Alexandria in Dunbartonshire and the Glen Catrine bonded warehouse and bottling facility in Ayrshire. With a rich and premium portfolio of spirits, it made sense for the group to create their own gin that was based on their ethos of providing premium spirits that capture the imagination and capture the spirit of Scotland.
London Dry Gin
London Dry Gin is both a flavour profile and a production method. London Dry Gins tend to follow the traditional, classic flavour of piney juniper, citrus and spice. Alongside juniper, botanicals in London Dry Gin often include orris root, angelica root, cassia bark, citrus peel and coriander, among the core botanicals. The result is a dry gin that features piney juniper along with bursts of citrus and warming spice and earthy, dry notes from use of botanicals such as cassia bark and coriander. Nothing synthetic can be added like flavourings or colours and nothing can be added post distillation apart from water and a tiny amount of sugar meaning all flavours come from distillation.
The Loch Lomond Group have partnered with The Glasgow Distillery Co. initially for production of their Ben Lomond Gins while they plan and build their own distillery. Ben Lomond is very much inspired by the majesty and beauty of Ben Lomond and the extensive natural flora within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs. For their fruit infused Scottish Gins, the team worked with a local forager to draw inspiration from the wild botanicals, vibrant berries and endless flora that can be found in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs regions, where the brand is based.
