Anything but a typical farmer’s wife, owner Lorna was inspired to create Wallhouse Distillery when she moved to their family sheep farm and wanted to create a legacy for her children and establish something for herself on the farm, saving her from the sheep! Lorna was diagnosed with MS in 1998 after going blind and over the years she’s learnt to cope by keeping busy and setting herself new and exciting challenges, so gin was destined to be the next one.
Not as easy and straightforward as she first thought, building a distillery would have to wait and following a chance meeting with Neil and Katie Sime from Blackford Craft Distillery in Aberdeenshire, Lorna knew her gin journey would begin with them. Lorna developed the recipe on her very own miniature copper pot still until she found the desirable taste for Wallhouse Gin, which was then scaled and refined for small batch production at their partnering distillery.
Wallhouse Gin or “Wally” was created to taste good and be fun. Having been a gin drinker and sampled lots of fantastic gins in recent years, Lorna was determined to create a refreshing, well balanced gin that would have gin drinkers coming back for more. There are ten botanicals in total, which come together to create a refreshing gin with a distinctive depth and hint of natural sweetness.
Key Botanical(s): Juniper, Citrus, Liquorice
Gin Style: London Dry
Strength: 43% vol
