Situated only a few miles from Scone Palace, which traditionally was where the coronation of the King of Scotland was held, Strathearn Distillery lies in the heart of rural Perthshire in Scotland. Founded in 2013 by Tony Reeman-Clark, Strathearn Distillery produces a range of Scottish Gins and spirits and offers a variety of Scottish Gin experiences including gin making lessons, distillery tours and more.
Although small batch in nature, the team at the Strathearn Distillery produce spirits big in flavour and big in craft, made with a range of botanicals derived from the rich local agricultural land. The land and soil is so rich and fertile, it’s home to the oldest tree in Europe, estimated to be somewhere in the region of 9000 years old.
Strathearn Scottish Gin is a truly handcrafted and small batch gin produced in batches of only 280 bottles. Strathearn’s Scottish Gin is produced using both their 500L and 50L stills. This combination of distillation allows them to create a very full bodied and balanced juniper led gin. A smooth, sweet start switches to a light peppery mouth-feel which is followed by a gentle sherbet finish as the citrus develops towards the end. Distilled with passion, crafted with skill and bottled with pride.
Key Botanical(s): Orris Root, Calamus Root, Honeyberry
Gin Style: Distilled
Strength: 47% vol
Goes great with: A few juniper berries, orange peel, tonic and ice.
Strathearn Heather Rose Gin is produced in a two stage process, the first being vapour infusion using a 500L pot still with a botanical basket. Once distilled, this base gin is compounded with additional delicate botanicals to add more flavour and colour. Its beautiful mahogany colour hides a magical secret which can be seen with the addition of tonic. With its combination of rose and heather, it takes on a Prosecco character. Fragrant, floral and light, sweet yet spicy.
Key Botanical(s): Rose Petals, Purple Heather Flowers
Gin Style: Distilled
Strength: 40% vol
Goes great with: Fresh raspberries, tonic and ice.
Opened in 2013 and described as one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries, Strathearn Distillery is regarded as one of the original small Scottish craft distillers. Situated in a converted farm steading in the heart of Perthshire, the distillery produces a range of Scottish spirits including whisky, rum and gin. Featuring two large traditional copper alembic stills for mostly whisky production and a smaller copper alembic still used for gin distillation. The distillery has also helped a number of Scottish Gin brands with their contract distillation services.
