Established in 2009, Aberdeen Whisky Shop at the West End of Union Street in Aberdeen is one of the areas longest standing purveyors of whisky, gin and spirits. Known for its excellent range of products and a big supporter of local spirits brands, there’s very little owner Nick doesn’t know about good spirits.
Seeing the range of gins growing over the last decade, including the growth and diversity in the Scottish Gin category, Nick worked with a local distillery to produce his own gin for the shop. In December 2018, the shop launched its very own Ginkie Gin.
This limited edition seasonal gin from the Aberdeen Whisky Shop is distilled using a variety of botanicals including fresh apples, Deeside honey, cassia bark, cubeb, almonds and fresh mint. The result is a gin that is well balanced with a flavour profile of fruit and warming spice. The name Ginkie comes from an old Scots word meaning “a light-hearted, light-footed lassie”.
