Colonsay Beverages was established in 2007 and have been brewing craft beer on the island for over 11 years. With so many wonderful botanicals on the Isle of Colonsay the team decided to create a range of gins that captured the wild and beautiful island. In 2016, they released their first in a series of gins, Wild Island Botanic Gin, opting to go with the well respected Langley Distillery near Birmingham for distillation.
The long-term goal of Colonsay Beverages was always to bring gin distillation back to the Island of Colonsay and at the end of 2017 they distilled their first distiller’s cut gin on the island. With help from Master Distiller Rob Dorsett from Langley Distillery, the team had a new gin still and a recipe they had developed and so began production of the first gin on the Island of Colonsay for over 100 years.
Autumn Distiller’s Cut is the first in a series of seasonal gins distilled on the island of Colonsay. With each changing season brings a new larder of botanicals and to celebrate this, the Wild Island team developed a new gin, the first gin to be distilled on the Island of Colonsay for many years. Infusing hand foraged tangy red currents from the island, the result is a gin that’s sharp but warm thanks to nutmeg and liquorice. Available exclusively from the distillery and brewery shop on the Island and limited to 500 bottles.
