Rabbie Burns would often talk of Whisky in his work, in particular Whisky politics. One of Burns more well know quotes about Whisky goes…
“Freedom and whisky gang thegither,
Tak aff your dram!”
Burns penned the poem after the introduction of the Scotch Distillery Act of 1786, which imposed extra duty on Scottish spirits exported to England. It is said that the poem is really about people’s rights and misuse of power. As an annual celebration, Burns Night sees Scotland’s most famous son and his literary work celebrated across the world. To honour the Bard, we’ve concocted a cocktail that uses Cask Matured Scottish Gin and something else Scotland is renowned for the world over, Whisky. Vermouth, normally found in a classic Martini, is replaced with Whisky to create a Smoky Martini.
• 60ml Scottish Cask Matured Gin
• 10ml Whisky
• Lemon twist to garnish
These measures are a guide only and can be tailored to suit your own personal taste.
Add the gin and Whisky to a mixing glass with ice. Stir well and strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
