The French 75 is a firm favourite at The Gin Cooperative so we were delighted when Colin McLean, founder of McLean’s Gin, suggested we use their signature Something Blue Gin in this champagne cocktail, bringing a slightly unique flavour (and colour) to the classic drink.
Originally created as a limited edition release to celebrate the nuptials of THE Mr & Mrs McLean, Something Blue focuses on their favourite botanicals; the Tonka Bean and the Buchu Leaf. Hints of summer fruits, mint, caramel and hand-rolled tobacco leaf, supported by a fresh herbaceous background.
Here’s how to make the Something Blue French 75…
• 25ml Something Blue Gin
• 12.5ml Sugar Syrup
• 12.5ml Lemon Juice
• Champagne or Prosecco, to top up
• Lemon Twist, to garnish
These measures are a guide only and can be tailored to suit your own personal taste.
Shake the gin, sugar syrup and lemon juice over ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass, top up with the Champagne or Prosecco and garnish with lemon twist.
Have fun and enjoy your drink responsibly.
